Our API is currently available in two different formats , XML and JSON to be embedded into your web site. The API is also available for Wordpress blogs as a plugin and can be installed and utilized with no programming experience.
Because there is no database on the publishers site, no search computations done on the publishers site or sizeble sourcecode addition done to the publishers site, there is no performance impact. Our API does require an 'up to date' host with the capability to run PHP.
All API calls are subject to rate limiting, which will be set per your subscription and system maximums. The calls from a user can have maximum per hour, maximum per day or maximum per month limits for a resource. In normal operation, these maximums should never be reached, but will prevent hackers from using your site to attack our site.
Our monitoring program will alert the PillID.Com web management team when abnormally high usage is observed or abnormal ratios of pill identifications vs. advertisement clicks on advertising supported subscriptions.
Exceeding any rate limits will result in all resource calls returning a status code of 403 (Forbidden). Our specific rate limits are subject to change, but following these guidelines it will ensure that your sites maximums will be less likely to exceed it's limits or ours.
When your web based applicatioin requests a resource, PillID.Com authenticates your request. It first verifies your application key is valid, matches to your IP address and has the matching URL. Your site is then are permitted to read the information provided by the resource.
